Editor - Monumental Sports & Entertainment (Washington, DC)

Monumental Sports & Entertainment owns and operates three professional sports teams: the NBA's Washington Wizards, the NHL's Washington Capitals, and the WNBA's Washington Mystics. Monumental, which merged Lincoln Holdings and Washington Sports & Entertainment on June 10, 2010, also owns and operates Verizon Center, the premier sports and entertainment venue in Washington, D.C. Overview: Video editor for long-form and short-form creative content focusing on sports, athletes and shoulder programming associated with athletes and teams.  Works with the creative team to pre-produce creative strategies, edit content from field shoots and from game footage, and collaborate with graphics team to enhance raw video edits with creative graphics and music. Will collaborate with entire creative team to develop, create, and execute the highest quality content for television broadcast, online and mobile delivery.      

Responsibilities:

  • Brainstorm creative coverage and storytelling strategies with producers and camera crew.
  • Brainstorm edit and graphics style with post-production team.
  • Edit footage from field shoots.
  • Coordinate with Production Manager to drive workflow and meet delivery deadlines.
  • Tell visual stories through creative editing, music and graphics.
  • Incorporate multiple shoots and sources to tell cohesive stories.
  • Collaborate with full creative team during pre-production, and work independently during post-production to make strong creative and procedural decisions in line with creative plan and delivery schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a television production environment.
  • Strong editing skills.
  • Ability to work well alone and in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of cutting edge equipment.
  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of Adobe Premiere.
  • Graphics skills such as AfterEffects preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Skills:

Must have knowledge of: CATdv. A working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products is a plus and basic office computing skills, Microsoft Word, etc.

Post-Production Supervisor - Monumental Sports & Entertainment (Washington, DC)

Overview: This position will manage the post-production staff and workflow.    

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee hiring, scheduling, supervision and management of post-production staff, including full-time and part-time staff.
  • Recruit, supervise and allocate workflow among post-production staff to maximize quality and efficiency, create training opportunities, and develop a work-team structure that emphasizes efficiency, creativity, and career development.
  • Manage post-production workflows to ensure that content pieces are delivered to agreed quality and creative standards, on agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Create priorities for post-production team to follow, making sure production goals are being met on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.
  • Participate in pre-production editorial staff meetings in order to maintain workflow efficiencies throughout all phases of content production, including managing communication with assigned staff so that directions and parameters are clearly defined prior to the start of all projects and throughout production and delivery.
  • Develop, manage and maintain ongoing “Post-Production Schedule”, making sure approval processes are followed and all deadlines are met throughout each phase of production.
  • Review content rough cuts, confirming pre-production editorial outlines have been followed, and that content segments are submitted for approval in as finished-form as possible in order to maintain workflow efficiencies throughout the post-production process.
  • In conjunction with senior staff, develop post-production budgets and processes to track project-based expenses.
  • Direct post-production communications as primary post-production liaison to Production team.
  • Work with production management and production staff to monitor and approve changes to production and staff schedules, content deliveries and overages.
  • Troubleshoot projects during all phases of production to ensure that workflows remain efficient and operational issues are minimized.
  • Proactively seek out means to maintain and maximize resources during all phases of post-production.
  • Supervise staff to generate, develop and pitch content styles, looks, and other ideas to Executive Producer for current and future short-form and long-form post-production initiatives.
  • Manage production graphics team as they develop various looks for content deliverables, coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure all graphic elements have been approved in advance of distribution.
  • Work in conjunction with Supervising Producers to create final content masters at the end of every project for inclusion into the Monumental Network Archive.
  • Ensure that all relevant post-production documentation (e.g. music cue sheets, 3rd party footage, still photo agreements and personnel releases) are gathered and saved upon completion of project.
  • Supervise, maintain and make recommendations on Post-Production infrastructure and processes to maximize efficiencies, including edit stations, media storage and archival solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Seven to ten years at Senior Editor/Senior Graphics/Post Production Supervisor level in sports television, including experience in quick turnaround, long-form, and short-form editing and post production.
  • Senior-level participation in team-based post-production infrastructure, including teams of Editors, Graphic Artists, Assistant Editors and Production Assistants. Knowledge of television program/show formats, live event/sports programming and content conventions, post-production hardware and software, and post-production budgets.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • At least five years of experience in managing over 15 employees.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage business relationships in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
