Broadcast Production - Multiple Part Time Positions - Monumental Sports & Entertainment (Washington, DC)

Monumental Sports & Entertainment owns and operates three professional sports teams: the NBA's Washington Wizards, the NHL's Washington Capitals, and the WNBA's Washington Mystics. Monumental, which merged Lincoln Holdings and Washington Sports & Entertainment on June 10, 2010, also owns and operates Verizon Center, the premier sports and entertainment venue in Washington, D.C. Additionally, the group operates Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the Capitals' state-of-the-art training facility in Arlington, Va., and George Mason University's EagleBank Arena, located in Fairfax, Va.

Listed below are part-time positions supporting Monumental Sports Network - Broadcast Operations Department. As part of the application process, you will be asked to provide the corresponding number of the position, in order of preference.

1. Utility
Responsibilities: 
• Help build hard cameras for live television productions
• Run camera and monitor cables
• Set up and breakdown remote sets
• Set up and breakdown monitors
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 
• Must have knowledge of NHL, NBA, AFL, WNBA, NCAA Basketball television production
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or 1-3 years Television Production Experience
• Must be able to multi-task
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Available to work nights and weekends

2. EVS/Colosseo/Kiswe Operators
Responsibilities: 
• Ability to cue and replay footage quickly
• Ability to create highlights packages
• Knowledge of Rules dealing with the NBA, AFL, WNBA, NHL and NCAA basketball

• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 
• Must have knowledge of NHL, NBA, AFL, WNBA, NCAA Basketball television production
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or 3 years Television Production Experience

3. Tape Operator
Responsibilities: 
• Set up tape decks and DVD sources for records and playback
• Work with game night editor for footage needed for event
• Label tapes and DVD’s correctly
• Record game footage, in-game elements, press conference and melts on decks
• Route audio
• Have video playback cued and ready to roll when scripted
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 
• Must have knowledge of NHL, NBA, AFL, WNBA, NCAA Basketball television production
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or 3 years Television Production Experience
• Basic knowledge of routing
• Must be able to multi-task

4. Video
Responsibilities: 
• Patch all cameras and monitors
• Fax all camera and positions with TD and back focus with camera ops
• Read and use Vector scope to paint and shade cameras
• Power up and down all CCUs
• Trouble shoot and diagnose issues
• Other duties as assigned

5. Chyron
Responsibilities: 
• Build all graphics for events
• Input graphics from the 4D/3D Graphic Designer
• Present live accurate in-game and past game stats
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 
• Must have knowledge of NHL, NBA, AFL, WNBA, NCAA Basketball television production
• Must be able to execute Duet 
• Must be able to use Lyric
• Must know Photoshop
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or 5 years’ experience working live sporting events
• Must be able to multi-task
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Available to work nights and weekends

6. Font Assist
Responsibilities: 
• Assist Chyron operator during games and other productions
• Gathers stats for sporting events
• Assist Chyron operator with spelling and accurate stats during live sporting events
• Checks all photos and graphics for accuracy
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 
• Must have knowledge of NHL, NBA, AFL, WNBA, NCAA Basketball television production
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or 3 years Television Production Experience

7. Camera/RF/ENG Operator
Responsibilities: 
• Operate Broadcast configured cameras; either hard or handheld
• Build hard cameras for live television productions
• Trouble shoot camera issues
• Understanding of Triax and SMPTE
• Operate camera during live events
• Understanding of ENG and RF cameras
• Set up monitors 
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 
• Must have knowledge of NHL, NBA, AFL, WNBA, NCAA Basketball television production
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or 3 years Television Production Experience
• Must have knowledge of Sony Broadcast cameras
• Must have excellent communication skills

8. Technical Director
Responsibilities: 
• Switch live broadcasts of Sporting Events
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 
• Must have knowledge of NHL, NBA, AFL, WNBA, NCAA Basketball television production
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or 5 years Television Production Experience
• Expert knowledge of a Ross Switcher
• Expert knowledge of Blackstorm
• Expert knowledge of EVS
• Working knowledge of Harris Routers
• Live truck environment experience preferred
• Must be able to multi-task

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

9. Broadcast/Production Engineer and Tech
Responsibilities: 
• Support the requirements of intense daily sports and programming operations
• Maintain of engineering standards and practices 
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 
• Must have knowledge of NHL, NBA, AFL, WNBA, NCAA Basketball television production
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or 5 years Television Production Experience
• Knowledge of Harris Routers, Ross Switchers, Blackstorm playback machines, EVS, Sony Cameras, Panasonic Cameras, CCTV Systems, RF Signal maintenance, and Miranda systems. 
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Must be able to multi-task
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

10. Colosseo Operator
Responsibilities: 
• Build Videos and LED for in-game content
• Operate content following script layout
• Help build show contents
• Ability to fax content

11. Director
Responsibilities: 
• Direct either NBA, NHL, WNBA, AFL or NCAA basketball in-house games
• Read, follow and execute the script provided by the Producer of Game Entertainment
• Call for all replays and playbacks
• Call for tracking of videos and mics with Sound Engineers
• Assign Camera Ops in positions of success
• Other duties as assigned

Overview:  Hands-on entry to intermediate,  position to support, address all technology equipment and tasks. Including but not limited to repair, operation, and maintenance (both hardware and software) of broadcast television equipment and engineering infrastructure which supports all aspects of a live television environment in a sports arena.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all digital assets are in proper working order
  • Perform day to day maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain positive and proactive communication on all technology issues
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock
  • Prepare and document all issues and resolutions of equipment
  • Provide event support as directed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelors degree or 5 years Television Production Experience
  • Must have excellent communication skills
