Director – Human Resources                                               

The Director of Human Resources is a full-time position within the Human Resources Department of the Anaheim Ducks and Honda Center/AAM.    The position will play a pivotal leadership role in the HR function for the company.  Reporting to the VP of HR, the Director will direct, organize, plan, develop, implement and administer HR policy and procedures encompassing all facets of People Management activities across the entire organization.   

Areas of focus for this role include:

HR Business Consulting - Providing HR business consulting to internal clients and extended senior leadership team. This HR Director will advise, coach and facilitate discussions with department heads so that together a comprehensive people plan is built and implemented.  The HR Director will also partner with the Vice President to drive the vision and strategy for the Human Resources team. 

Talent Strategy: Guide clients in developing a “buy, build, borrow” strategy for talent and collaborate with Talent Acquisition to hire new talent as needed by the business.

 Leadership Development:  Develop leadership strategies targeted to the management level and work closely with Talent Management experts to implement programs promoting growth and internal mobility.

Employee Development:  Translate needs into development programs that target career pathing and helping managers learn to coach and give feedback to employees.

Change Management:   Facilitate the development of a high-performing team, driving culture change through initiatives that evolve the culture and the talent within the organization.  Deliver innovative culture-building ideas that create team cohesiveness.  Function as a member of the leadership team providing insights and recommendations on ways to continuously improve the organization, implement new growth strategies, and achieve financial objectives

Examples of Duties/Essential Functions:

  •  Oversee activities relating to personnel rules and regulations, staffing, employee education and training, leadership development, employee relations, recruitment, compensation and benefits administration
  • Provides guidance and recommendations resulting in business solutions
  • Evaluate Talent Bench Programs making recommendations and adoption of enhanced employee education, training and development programs
  • Supervise Human Resources team members
  • Ensure processes and procedures are effective and streamlined with a focus and never ending commitment to continuous improvement
  • Lead the performance management process across the company in close coordination with other leaders at all levels
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualification Standards:

·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field, business administration preferred.  SPHR certification a plus

·         Significant relevant experience in progressively responsible human resources roles, including 5 – 10 years’ leadership experience

·         Experience in organizational design and development strongly desirable

·         Extensive experience and success in recruitment and high volume staffing

·         Solid technical HR background, especially in California employment law

·         Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

·         High Customer service orientation

·         Previous experience in hospitality and sports entertainment preferred

·         Previous experience in implementing HRIS systems preferred

·         Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends and some holidays as required.

Facility Operations/Security: Facility/Venue Management
Ice Crew Member - Anaheim Ducks (Anaheim, CA)

This is a part-time, seasonal position within the Anaheim Ducks Entertainment Department.
An Ice Crew Member is primarily responsible for clearing snow and debris from the arena ice surface throughout Ducks home games.

Examples of Duties/Essential Functions:
• Clear snow and debris from the ice-playing surface throughout Ducks hockey games.
• Assist with intermission activities and other responsibilities on an as-needed basis.


Specific Abilities:

• Skating experience required; must be an advanced ice skater.
• Able to skate quickly with heavy equipment in hand.
• Ability to be a team player and enjoy working in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable being in front of large crowds.
• Ice skating surface maintenance experience preferred but not required.
• Able to work well under pressure and time constraints.

Qualification Standards:

Manager, Corporate Partnership Sales - Anaheim Ducks Hockey Club (Anaheim, CA)

The Manager- Corporate Partnership Sales is responsible for selling and marketing integrated corporate partnership programs that incorporate all hockey team and arena-controlled marketing and media assets.  These assets would include, but not be limited to, traditional signage, television, radio, print and digital (Internet), corporate hospitality and regional intellectual property rights / promotional rights.  The Sales Manager will manage and oversee the entire sales process from the prospecting phase for new business to the execution of the contractual agreements with the corporate partners.  He or she will also be responsible for assisting the Research Analysts, when necessary, to create marketing partnership proposals and provide input to generate effective consumer insight data.  

Examples of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:  
•    Responsible for selling all Anaheim Ducks and Honda Center-controlled partnership assets
•    Aggressively prospect local and regional companies for new revenue opportunities
•    Secure prospect meetings that result in comprehensive needs analyses to gain further understanding of the prospects’ goal and objectives
•    Work with in-house counsel to administer and fully execute contractual agreements for new business and renewal opportunities
•    Assist the Corporate Partnership Activation team to ensure that all negotiated contractual benefits are executed
•    Responsible for the financial collections for each respective account sold
•    Maintain and report weekly sales / prospecting activity
•    Assist with the creation and development of sales collateral and other technology-related materials
•    Collaborate with Marketing (and, other internal departments) to integrate Anaheim Ducks and Honda Center initiatives into corporate partnership programs

Scheduling Coordinator - Anaheim Ducks (Anaheim, CA)

Summary: The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for the daily upkeep of scheduling needs for Business Partners within the organization.  Scheduling Coordinator’s daily responsibilities encompass event scheduling, updating and tracking team member availabilities, updating and tracking requests for time off, reporting and forecasting,  and employee communication and engagement.  The Scheduling Coordinator will also assist with enforcing the organization’s  policies and procedures, which includes, but is not limited to, time and attendance policies uniform guidelines,  safety and security compliance, etc…  This is a Full-Time position located within the Honda Center and reports to the Scheduling Manager. 

Examples of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:  

· Ensures the timely scheduling of all assigned departments in conjunction with event needs, at Department Manager(s)’ discretion

· Maintain the Availability and Request for Time Off (RTO) process and track in the scheduling system.  Upon receipt, Scheduling Coordinator will work with Department Managers and communicate accordingly.

· Ability to coordinate high-volumes of calls, emails, and other forms of communication.

· Track and record any critical employee status updates such as call-offs, attendance violations, leave of absence, etc. and promptly notify Business Partners.

·  Properly track and process applicable Paid Sick Leave.

· Maintain records within our primary scheduling system.

· Collaborate with Uniform Attendant to ensure all employees are properly outfitted in accordance with grooming guidelines set by Organization.

· Coordinate with Business Partners in the check-in process and deployment of staff.

· Proactively engage and/or notify Business Partners regarding staffing levels prior to the event.

· Partner with Payroll at the end of the pay period and ensure accurate and timely payroll close.

· Track and maintain certification compliance as needed.

·  Partner with HR, Risk Management, and Business Partners and assist with completion of Risk Management related documentation.

· Scheduling Coordinator will need to uphold strict confidentiality and maintain the integrity of privy information.

· Other responsibilities and tasks as deemed appropriate by the Management Team at Honda Center.

Sr. Manager Fan Development & Marketing - Anaheim Ducks Hockey Club (Anaheim, CA)

Sr. Manager--Fan Development & Marketing                        

 

The Senior Manager of Fan Development & Marketing is a full-time, non-exempt position within the Marketing Department.  This position will focus on cultivating brand affinity and growth of youth hockey amongst the youth population as well as untapped market segments. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for creating, delivering, and managing multiple strategic programs with an emphasis on team branding, hockey development, education initiatives, and membership clubs such as the Wild Wingers Kids Club. In addition, serve as the liaison between the team and the league for NHL Fan Development initiatives such as the Industry Growth Fund and NHL/NHLPA Future Goals.

Examples of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:        

  • Oversee the direction and growth of the Ducks S.C.O.R.E. Program, the team’s school and education program.
    • Create various in-school curriculum for physical education, academic subjects, and STEM related topics that meet the current NGSS, Common Core, and legacy education standards.
    • Oversee the First Flight Field Trip, an award-winning in-school field trip to Honda Center, and manage all elements (vision, curriculum, entertainment, ticketing, etc.) to ensure its national recognition as an educational event.
    • Develop and cultivate educational partnerships for the benefit of the local community and the Anaheim Ducks. Raise the awareness of Ducks S.C.O.R.E. and make it viable to the educational community.
    • Collaborate with Director of Community Relations to ensure that these educational initiatives align with the mission of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation.
  • Oversee the team’s hockey development programs relating to the Ducks G.O.A.L. program.
    • Develop partnerships with the local hockey community including hockey rinks throughout Southern California.
    • Ensure the growth of the Anaheim Ducks I3 Roller Hockey League and its learn-to-play program called I3 Training Camp.

·         Manage the expansion of the Anaheim Ducks Throw-Back Classic Adult Hockey Tournament, one of the nation’s largest adult hockey tournaments. Oversee the registration, implementation, and follow through on all tournament aspects.

·         Oversee the content for all Fan Development Marketing digital assets such as websites and social media platforms. Coordinate with Director of Publications and New Media to align these properties with the team’s technology goals.

·         Work with USA Hockey and the National Hockey League to implement league-wide and nationwide Fan Development initiatives such as the NHL and NHLPA Future Goals, Industry Growth Fund, and American Development Model at the team/local level.

·         Work in partnership with The Rinks and Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League (ADHSHL) to manage various events/aspects such as the ADHSHL All-Star Game, playoffs, and the league’s website.

  • Manage and supervise six full-time and up to 14 part-time employees.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Wild Wingers Kids Club and Die Hards Booster Club.  

Specific Qualifications/Abilities: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sports and entertainment marketing or related field, along with at least two year’s supervisory experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of youth marketing, grass roots marketing and/or local sports marketing (sports league or franchise experience is a plus)
  • Thorough knowledge of the sport of hockey, specifically the National Hockey League
  • Working knowledge of basic PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Outlook, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Candidate must be detail oriented, progressive and hands on.
  • Candidate should have proven ability to operate successfully within budgets, against deadlines and competently deal with crises as they arise.
  • Ability to work a flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
