Team Hosts selected for the 2018 World Junior Championship, to be held from Dec. 26, 2017 to Jan. 5, 2018 in Buffalo, NY, will be respected members of the local community.  These individuals will be dedicated to their respective country’s team, ensuring their game and practice-related requirements are addressed in an efficient manner for the duration of the team’s stay in Buffalo. 

Availability:

·         Work times will vary between 7 a.m. and midnight*,  based on practice and game times of the host’s assigned team. Team Hosts must be available to begin assisting their assigned team on Dec. 25, 2017 through Jan. 6, 2018. 

  • Two to Four Team Hosts will be assigned to each team for the duration of the tournament including one Bilingual Host (as needed), allowing the Hosts to work in shifts.
  • Team Hosts will have access to a provided vehicle to use while transporting members of their assigned team’s management group or while fulfilling team-related needs during their work shifts.

Responsibilities:

·         Team Hosts will be the main contact for each team and will deal with any issues or requests a team might have.  If the request is more than the team host can provide, the Director of World Junior Championship or member of the Host Organizing Committee is available to assist.

The Team Services employees will play a key role in the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship, working together to ensure the needs of all participating players, coaches and on-ice officials are met in a timely, professional and satisfactory matter.

  • Working in shifts, the Team Services employees will be responsible for handling all laundry needs for the 10 teams and on-ice officials, including collecting, washing, drying, tracking and delivering team laundry on all practice and game days at both KeyBank Center and HARBORCENTER. Laundry operations will be based in the arena and will operate on a 24 hour basis or as needed.
  • Work with each team’s trainers and equipment managers on all equipment transfers throughout the tournament, particularly between KeyBank Center and HARBORCENTER as teams are required to move between the two buildings for games and practices.
  • Make sure beverages and snacks are available at all times on communal tables in hockey hallways at both KeyBank Center and HARBORCENTER. Manage the inventory of beverages and snacks throughout the tournament.

Transportation will be a critical element for the execution of the 2018 World Junior Championship, to be held from Dec. 26, 2017 to Jan. 5, 2018 in Buffalo, NY. The Transportation positions will be divided into two categories: Driver and Dispatch.

Drivers: 

  • Drivers will be responsible for transporting various World Junior Championship personnel, including IIHF Executives, Team Management, On-Ice Officials and Supervisors, to and from hotels and arenas.

  • Drivers will be responsible for operating the Media Shuttle between Arena and Hotels at various assigned times.

  • Shift times will vary between 7 a.m. and 12 midnight based on game and practice times.  Must have extensive knowledge of Western New York roads, be at least 25 years old, and possess a valid and point-free Driver’s License.

Dispatch:

·         Dispatch personnel will be stationed in the Transportation Center located inside KeyBank Center during their shifts and will be responsible for coordinating passenger movement.

  • Dispatch personnel will accept transportation requests from World Junior Championship personnel via phone and/or email, and will be responsible for communicating these needs to drivers and ensuring each transport is executed, as well as maintaining the master transportation schedule.

  • Manage the whereabouts of all World Junior Championship courtesy cars and shuttles at all times during tournament hours. Ensure that all vehicle information logs are updated after each transport to track and document mileage, fuel levels and vehicle conditions. Communicate with Shuttle Drivers at each drop-off and pick-up location.

  • Perform internal controls to verify accurate processing of:
