Director of Marketing-Buffalo Sabres - Buffalo Sabres (Buffalo, NY)

• Provide the planning and leadership to the Buffalo Sabres Marketing Department by ensuring the proper structures and systems are in place in order to meet and exceed the goals of the overall Marketing Plan.
• With guidance from the EVP of Marketing & Brand Strategy, assume the overall responsibility of developing the Buffalo Sabres annual marketing plan.
• Prepare all marketing plans for new and existing initiatives outside of the annual plan.
• Establish a system of reports and communication of all information from the marketing team to the executive staff of the Buffalo Sabres.
• Organize and direct marketing strategy meetings on a regular basis and ensure proper implementation and execution of all initiatives.
• Manage the Content Marketing Manager, Social Media Marketing Manager and Marketing Manager for the Buffalo Sabres.
• Work with the Director of Marketing, PSE and the Director of Insights and Analytics, PSE to ensure maximum efficiencies and communication across all levels.
• Oversee the marketing of the Buffalo Bandits and Rochester Americans.
• Work with the PSE Creative Services department to create and fulfill design requests for all marketing and branding initiatives.
• Work with Content Marketing Manager on the creation of relevant and engaging content for the Team’s various media channels.
• Write and present all marketing plans and initiatives to the EVP of Marketing & Brand Strategy, PSE.
• Lead in all marketing functions including media buying, promotions, social media, content marketing, promotions, and event coordination.
• Lead in the coordination and trafficking of all advertising for Sabres events including TV, print, radio and digital advertising, including online and email content.
• Oversee and manage in-house promotional/advertising inventory to support venue and team marketing campaigns.
• Maximize all marketing cross-promotional opportunities by exploiting all internal marketing opportunities as well as developing a network of local contacts for external opportunities.
• Seek out and establish innovative, creative marketing opportunities for the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bandits and Rochester Americans.
• Other Tasks and Projects as business dictates and requires.

• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Marketing
• 8+ years of experience in sport or entertainment marketing
• Proven track record of success in senior marketing roles
• Confident, driven and dynamic leader
• Ability to easily transition between numerous projects simultaneously
• Event marketing knowledge
• Strong creativity skills
• Excellent people skills, with an ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients at all levels
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills

A competitive salary based on experience

Must be willing to relocate to the Western New York area.

  • Research analysis of potential acquisition targets including:
  • Analysis of historical performance of target companies
  • Preparation of pro forma financial information of targets including the development of various scenarios/assumptions
  • Identification and analysis of synergies between targets and existing companies

Sales & Marketing: Marketing
Special Events Manager-HarborCenter - Buffalo Sabres (Buffalo, NY)

• Work closely with HARBORCENTER staff to implement a wide range of complimentary sport and entertainment events hosted on site
• Collaborate with our Canalside partners to identify opportunities to create cohesive events utilizing all assets within HARBORCENTER, First Niagara Center, and the District
• Develop and execute marketing strategies and logistics for “major events” at HARBORCENTER and First Niagara Center, including but not limited to NHL, IIHF, USAH, NCAA, and WJC, etc.
• Organize and communicate details and responsibilities with all departments involved and following-up to ensure all tasks are completed to company and contract standards
• Maintain accurate event accounting records and communicate all profits and any potential loses with necessary departments

• Bachelor degree in a relevant field, including, public relations, business, communications, or marketing.
• A minimum of 5 years professional experience, ideally with experience in event promotion and management.
• Have excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead project teams and work collaboratively across functions and organizations.
• Sound administration skills and a mental aptitude for business development and public relations
• Strong overall computer skills, including traditional Microsoft Office, Internet and social media
• Creative and energetic with a focus and commitment to delivering differentiating results and outcomes
• Confident communicator with ability to work collaboratively with diversified teams
• Comfortable in accepting feedback, alternative approaches, and specified direction,
• Passion for excellence, attention to detail, and continual improvement.
