Facility Operations/Security: Maintenance
Building Engineer Assistant - CBJ Arena Management/ Nationwide Arena (Columbus, OH)

Maintains in good working condition all facility equipment including HVAC, plumbing and electrical plants, lighting and climate control systems, roofing systems, telecommunications, fire-life/safety systems, and maintenance/cleaning equipment. Operates systems (HVAC, lighting, etc.) as needed. Troubleshoots and repairs plumbing and mechanical malfunctions and performs required PM. Follows developed maintenance and scheduling program to ensure the facility is properly maintained to ensure safety of patrons. Works with staff on all new installations. Assists in safety codes. Position requires working with heights. Subject to emergency calls.

Experience required /desired

HVAC/plumbing certification/licensing required within 2 years of hiring. Willingness to work in a team environment. Proficient with the use of a personal computer; familiar with the use of the Microsoft Office products. Position requires heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling and equipment operation. This position requires work both indoors and out and is subject to adverse conditions. Ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff including management. Ability to work irregular/extended hours, including night and weekend duties is required.

Summary of Duties: 

50%     Performs minor and major repair of all facility systems and equipment. Inspects systems throughout facility to detect malfunctions or breakdowns. Investigates malfunctions or breakdowns of systems to diagnose causes and locate the source of the problem & implements corrective actions and solutions. Assists Engineers with anticipated potential malfunctions or breakdowns and takes appropriate action to prevent or minimize curtailment of services. Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts. Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures Follows procedures for use of Work Orders and CMMS systems. Cleans and inspects boilers, chillers, and heat exchangers; monitors water treatment program to ensure compliance.

40%     Assists Engineers with calibration and repairs of DDC and pneumatic systems. Assists with the installation of electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects; replaces and repairs wiring as directed. Assists with repair of electrical equipment and control circuits; assists with replacement of faulty electrical switches; assists with repair of refrigeration equipment. May repair electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security. Operates auxiliary supply systems when a breakdown occurs. Assist with shutdown and start-ups of utilities when conditions require it.

10%     Adheres to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes. Performs outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required. Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required. Other duties may be assigned.

Facility Operations/Security: Facility/Venue Management
Chief Engineer - CBJ Arena Management/ Nationwide Arena (Columbus, OH)

The Chief Engineer directly oversees and supervises the engineering components of Nationwide Arena.  Assures that all HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, climate control, roofing, telecommunications, security, access control, fire alarm, maintenance, cleaning, and structural building elements are in safe and good working order, following established industry standards.  Position required a valid drivers license, ability to work unusual hours, and working with heights.

Appropriate certification/licensing within field required.  Minimum five years’ experience in the supervision of personnel and operation of a public assembly facility, hotel, or other commercial facility.  Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Metasys Building Automation System, lighting control systems, and security/access control systems.  Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.  Experience in reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.  Experience in using CMMS programs. Experience in Utility demand and usage techniques.  Excellent customer service skills are a must as the position requires frequent interaction with customers, vendors and other visitors to the facility. Subject to emergency calls.

Summary of Duties:  

  • Operational oversight for the HVAC, electrical and utilities, plumbing systems, kitchen and refrigeration equipment, and repair and maintenance entities of the facility. Maintains Ice Plant and associated components. Calibrates and repairs DDC and pneumatic systems.  Develops preventive, predictive maintenance and scheduling programs.  Maintains climate control and fire alarm systems in accordance with shows requirements within the limits of various codes and regulations.
  • Oversees utility usage, demand response, and performs continuous evaluations to reduce utility spending. Assist in the preparation of yearly operational and capital budget and rolling 5 year capital budget plan. Assist in overseeing activities of vendors, subcontractors, and city and county services. Maintenance of annual permit requirements (i.e. elevator, backflow inspection, life safety to include all alarms, etc). Maintenance of various equipment and building preventive maintenance contracts.
  • Hire, supervise and train all personnel required for the operation of all department entities and functions. Schedule staff, monitor hours, and prepare reports for payroll processing. Review event documents for engineering/operational issues and identify potential issues and recommend solutions. Ensure all equipment is maintained according to factory specifications and maintain accurate records to that fact. Adheres to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.
  • Maintains record and reports. Other duties as assigned.

Season Sales Account Executive - Columbus Blue Jackets (Columbus, OH)


Responsible for generating new season ticket and group sales revenue from individual consumers and members of the Central Ohio business community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Meet or exceed annual sales goals for both renewal and new business as established by management.

Identify and target potential season ticket and group outing customers.

Identify needs of each customer and present them with customized solutions utilizing the full menu of Columbus Blue Jackets ticket products.

Execute a required number of proactive and personal touch points with assigned customers throughout the year, including but not limited to personal outbound phone calls, personal e-mail correspondence, in-office visits and interaction at games and events.

Build value and increase customer loyalty by exceeding expectations, anticipating needs and providing 'wow' moments through unique, memorable and personalized experiences at Columbus Blue Jackets games and events at Nationwide Arena.

Become an expert on the ticket products and services offered by the Columbus Blue Jackets and Nationwide Arena to provide timely information and resolution to customer concerns and issues.

Maintain complete and updated profiles on all assigned accounts and prospects through consistent database reporting.

Work cooperatively with and alongside the Ticket Service and Retention team to ensure a smooth account transition process for full season ticket accounts once a new sale is complete.
