50/50 Raffle Sales Representative - Dallas Stars Foundation (Frisco, TX)

JOB SUMMARY: This position will be the driving sales force behind the 50/50 Raffle Program benefiting the Dallas Stars Foundation.  A 50/50 raffle is a raffle that will take place at all home games of the teams in accordance with Texas law, where one lucky winner will receive 50% of the pot (after allowable expenses) from that night’s event, while the team foundation will receive the other 50% to be dedicated to their ongoing charitable efforts. This seasonal position will start in September and end at the end of the Dallas Stars Season (anywhere from April – June).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Game night selling of raffle tickets to Dallas Stars customers within the American Airlines Center in either a stationary kiosk location or as a roaming sales representative.
  • Accepting and accounting for large sums of cash on a nightly basis.
  • Communication of the 50/50 raffle rules and procedures clearly to potential customers.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate (College graduate preferred)
  • Energetic personality with some level sales experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be able to stand and walk for long periods of time in a hectic sports arena environment.
  • Non-traditional working hours are required for this position while teams are in market.  Must be able to attend at least 75% of each Dallas Stars home games.
  • Each game night commitment will be approximately 4-5 hours total, beginning 2 hours before the start of the game.
  • A passion for sports and/or charity work with a comfortable knowledge of the working environment in a professional sports arena.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is exposed to an arena environment, with noise levels that can become considerably loud.

Communications Intern - Fall 2017 - Dallas Stars (Frisco, TX)

COMMUNICATIONS INTERN – FALL 2017

The Dallas Stars are looking for a qualified intern to join our Communications department for the semester.

The internship will provide coaching and opportunity for hands-on experience with the world of professional sports communications in a way that will leave you incredibly prepared for any future job that might arise in the communications field.

What you’ll learn:

  • The day-to-day tasks and responsibilities of a communications department during the NHL season
  • Learn the essential role of the communications department in all aspects of organization including corporate partnerships, ticket sales, community outreach programs, Dallas Stars Foundation, and hockey operations
  • How the overall messaging for a professional sports team is established, written and disseminated to media and general public
  • How to research, update and formulate statistical information for media including game notes, pre-game emails and game day info
  • How to complete necessary tasks for Stars home game days including credentialing process, press box setup and media hospitality efforts
  • How to compile and archive daily news clips
  • Observe interactions of the communications department with media, players and hockey operations officials at Stars practice

  

What we are looking for:

  • Candidates MUST BE enrolled in college and receive college credit for this position
  • A background in communications, sports information or public relations
  • Extremely strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Adobe Indesign
  • High level of comfort and professionalism while having to interact with new people on a daily basis while representing the Dallas Stars Hockey Club.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from Dr Pepper StarCenter Frisco (located at the northeast corner of Dallas North Tollway and Sam Rayburn Tollway)

Sales & Marketing: Ticket Operations
Coordinator, Ticket Operations - Dallas Stars (Frisco, TX)

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting the Ticket Operations Director, Managers, and sales staff with tickets requests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Order processing and fulfillment
  • Inventory management
  • Intermediate level of reporting, i.e. financial reports and Sales reports
  • Game day responsibilities for the Dallas Stars and opponents ticket requests, including assisting with ticketing issues, and player/staff requests
  • Dr Pepper Arena events assistance includes selling tickets and working the “will call” window.
  • Intermediate database (Archtics) management
  • Cash Deposits for Dallas Stars
  • Internal promotional ticket offers
  • Mail out ticket requests in a timely manner as required from sales representatives and customers alike.

?QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent customer service and conflict management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong mathematical skills and ability to balance a cash drawer
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
  • 2-5+ years of experience.
  • Experience with Ticketmaster, Host Systems, and Architcs.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office computer systems.
  • Skilled and advanced knowledge of Excel is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Ticketmaster online account manager

Dallas Stars Foundation Internship - Fall - Dallas Stars (Frisco, TX)

INTERNSHIP SUMMARY: The Fall internship operates from September through December providing the right candidate an opportunity for hands-on experience learning about our fundraising and donations efforts, event planning, and our volunteer program, which all provide valuable skills learned for students looking to make the next step in their professional career.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates MUST BE enrolled in college and receive college credit
  • Junior or Senior level students are preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills desired
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, and a desire to learn the trade
  • Be able to office for mentorship a minimum of 15 hours per week
  • Be able to attend every Dallas Stars game (Sept. – Dec.)

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
