Islanders University is an experience unlike any other. As a participant in the Islanders University program, interns learn the inner workings of how to run a successful professional sports organization.

An intern should expect to work anywhere from 20-30 hours each week (days and hours can be flexible based on school schedules) and these hours would include working most events/game nights. All intern positions call for general administrative work including, but not limited to: maintaining/organizing files, data entry, copying, filing and faxing. Interns must possess strong organizational and communication (both oral and written) skills. Interns must be proficient in Microsoft Office and internet navigation. Interns also must have the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative, in addition to being able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize. A professional attitude will be expected. Accounting Internship:
An intern in the accounting department will perform general office duties, which include but are not limited to: assisting with the financials for the New York Islanders, Islanders Children’s Foundation, Islanders Iceworks and Bridgeport Sound Tigers. You will be assisting with the recording and reconciling of daily ticket batches, preparing and recording journal entries, monthly bank reconciliations, various P&L and balance sheet account analysis, assisting in the maintenance of Islanders Kids Club information and fees, counting and organizing game night monies collected and helping to assist with management reports.

INTERNSHIP: Community Relations Spring 2015 - New York Islanders Hockey Club (Uniondale, NY)

The Islanders Community Relations department acts as a liaison between the Islanders and the Long Island community. Interns entering into this department will participate in planning and hosting events throughout Long Island as part of our grassroots marketing campaigns. These events could include appearances from players, the Ice Girls and our mascot, Sparky. Interns will also assist with charitable in-kind donation requests, fulfillment of New York Islanders Kids Club and help the CR department on game nights. This will include Islanders Children’s Foundation fundraising. Interns will also help assist at Islanders Children’s Foundation events including the Islanders Golf Outing.

INTERNSHIP: Customer Service/Ticket Sales Spring 2015 - New York Islanders (Uniondale, NY)

Customer Service/Ticket Sales Internship:
The Customer Service department handles all ticketing, ticket sales and building issues pertaining to New York Islanders events. Duties include heavy database management, lead generating, event planning, sales calls, sales appointments, and one-on-one interactions with fans and potential clients in-person as well as via phone and email. Interns will be assisting at Islanders games, including working at the customer service booth, assisting with in-game promotions, Fan Experience specialties (hi-fives, zamboni rides), ticket delivery and marketing material distribution. The Customer Service intern will also be responsible for answering the main phone line at reception various times throughout the duration of the internship.

Group Sales Internship:
Interns in the Group Sales department will perform general office duties, which includes: assisting in all aspects of customer service. Interns will be responsible for helping with all mailings to ticket customers. Interns will be assisting with database management, sales calls and meetings, while also developing new programs to gain greater attendance from the college/university market. Youth Hockey Development Internship
The New York Islanders are seeking an eager and hard-working individual to assist the amateur hockey development staff as an intern.
The Islanders amateur hockey development intern is responsible for a variety of duties on a day-to-day basis, both in the office and around hockey rinks. The right individual must take pride in their work and pay attention to detail. Applicants must have a strong understanding of the sport of hockey and be able to multi-task, while maintaining high standards in their responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain the amateur hockey database
• Execute and maintain day-to-day operations of all amateur hockey programs, including, but not limited to:
Islanders Hockey Academy, Jr. Islanders Hockey Team, Linzer House Tournament, Lighthouse
International Youth Hockey Tournament and Islanders Youth Hockey Jamboree
• Obtain and register participants for all amateur hockey programs
• Photograph all program sessions for use on NewYorkIslanders.com and marketing collateral
• Attend ICE (Islanders Community Events Tour) happenings to promote amateur hockey programs
• Initiate contact with interested parties by placing phone calls and issuing pertinent paperwork
• Build relationships with participating parents and families
• Attend all programs to be the on-site contact, answering questions for participants, parents and staff.
• Manage concourse presence at Islanders home games to promote amateur hockey, answer questions
and secure registrations

Qualifications:
• Trustworthy, polite, positive, respectful self-starter who works well with others
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Detail-oriented with strong organization and project management skills
• Photography skills are also highly regarded

Description:

The New York Islanders are seeking an individual with the knowledge of how video production is executed for the sports digital media industry. Partnered with Neulion, Islanders TV is looking for a motivated intern to help develop and create content for the New York Islanders, Islanders TV division. The position requires independent thought, exceptional problem solving skills and the ability to work successfully in a highly intense sports atmosphere on a regular basis.

           

Required Qualifications:

·         Intern must be a college sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Film, Television Production, Communications or a closely related field.

·         Availability for Islanders Home Games

·         Ability to be highly detailed-oriented, self-motivated, and have the ability to follow direction and function well in a dynamic environment

·         Proficient with Final Cut Studio 7 and or Adobe Premiere

·         Knowledge of basic lighting techniques

·         Experience in shooting with HD professional cameras

 

Desired but not required qualifications:

·         Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator)

·         Knowledge of Apple Motion

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·         Assist Islanders TV Producer on all shoots and edits

·         Edit daily Islanders TV content

·         Film, edit and post Islanders postgame interviews

·         Produce and edit packages in timely manner without assistance

·         Log Islanders highlight melts

·         Build weekly highlight reels

·         Design and create of graphics

·         Organize video storage systems
