Accounting Internship:
An intern in the accounting department will perform general office duties, which include but are not limited to: assisting with the financials for the New York Islanders, Islanders Children’s Foundation, Islanders Iceworks and Bridgeport Sound Tigers. You will be assisting with the recording and reconciling of daily ticket batches, preparing and recording journal entries, monthly bank reconciliations, various P&L and balance sheet account analysis, assisting in the maintenance of Islanders Kids Club information and fees, counting and organizing game night monies collected and helping to assist with management reports.

Customer Service/Ticket Sales Internship:
The Customer Service department handles all ticketing, ticket sales and building issues pertaining to New York Islanders events. Duties include heavy database management, lead generating, event planning, sales calls, sales appointments, and one-on-one interactions with fans and potential clients in-person as well as via phone and email. Interns will be assisting at Islanders games, including working at the customer service booth, assisting with in-game promotions, Fan Experience specialties (hi-fives, zamboni rides), ticket delivery and marketing material distribution. The Customer Service intern will also be responsible for answering the main phone line at reception various times throughout the duration of the internship.

Fan Photographer / Fan Experience and Events
The New York Islanders are seeking energetic and dependable individuals who have a passion for photography and can interact with fans. This position consists of working on game nights for the first half of 2014-2015 season through the end of December. During the games you will be interacting with fans by taking pictures that they are able to purchase online. You are required to arrive 1.5 hours before the start of each game.

Game Operations Internship:
As a Game Operations intern, you are expected to work every home game, as well as complete office days. Game day duties vary depending on the specific game needs, but will include the set-up and break-down of video and audio equipment, as well as involvement in game entertainment needs, from the concourse to the ice. Office day duties include assisting the Game Operations department with special projects, game entertainment, game night organization and overall department administration. Description:
This position seeks to provide an individual with the knowledge of how video production is executed for the digital media industry. We are looking for a motivated intern to help develop and create content for our various sports clients, including the New York Islanders. The position within NeuLion requires independent thought, exceptional problem solving skills and the ability to work successfully in a highly intense sports atmosphere on a regular basis. The individual should be able to make confident and intelligent decisions that reflect an understanding of the company’s goals and expectations, while maintaining the quality of the project they are working on.
This internship is available to students that are looking to obtain school credit.
The applicant should be available 3 days a week for full or half day office hours, as well as on game nights.
Internships are available for fall, spring and summer semesters. Your own transportation is required. Traveling to and from Nassau Coliseum, located at 1255 Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondate, NY and NeuLion Inc., located at 1600 Old Country Road in Plainview, NY is required.

Job Responsibilities:
• Shoot a wide range of video
• Edit your work without assistance
• Help maintain and organize the video tape library
• Assist producers on shoots and edits
• Organize video stored on hard drives

Required Qualifications:
• Video production experience
• Experience with mini-dv camera, basic shooting ability

Youth Hockey Development Internship
The New York Islanders are seeking an eager and hard-working individual to assist the amateur hockey development staff as an intern.
The Islanders amateur hockey development intern is responsible for a variety of duties on a day-to-day basis, both in the office and around hockey rinks. The right individual must take pride in their work and pay attention to detail. Applicants must have a strong understanding of the sport of hockey and be able to multi-task, while maintaining high standards in their responsibilities.

 

Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain the amateur hockey database
• Execute and maintain day-to-day operations of all amateur hockey programs, including, but not limited to:
Islanders Hockey Academy, Jr. Islanders Hockey Team, Linzer House Tournament, Lighthouse
International Youth Hockey Tournament and Islanders Youth Hockey Jamboree
• Obtain and register participants for all amateur hockey programs
• Photograph all program sessions for use on NewYorkIslanders.com and marketing collateral
• Attend ICE (Islanders Community Events Tour) happenings to promote amateur hockey programs
• Initiate contact with interested parties by placing phone calls and issuing pertinent paperwork
• Build relationships with participating parents and families
• Attend all programs to be the on-site contact, answering questions for participants, parents and staff.
• Manage concourse presence at Islanders home games to promote amateur hockey, answer questions
and secure registrations

Qualifications:

Job Purpose: This is a part-time position within the New York Islanders Community Relations/Fan Development/Operations Department. Members of this team will be fun, energetic, enthusiastic and committed to promoting the New York Islanders in the community.
Primary (Essential) Responsibilities:
Community/Team Events
• Work both on and off-site events (i.e. home games, special events, Islanders I.C.E. Tour events, festivals, etc.) in an effort to promote the New York Islanders
• Responsible for the set-up, operation and breakdown of all interactive elements and the New York Islanders I.C.E. Tour vehicles at scheduled events
• Responsible for all operational needs and activation of the following elements while at events representing the New York Islanders- handout of giveaways, facilitate on-site promotions (ie. Islanders Kids Club signups), interact with fans and communicate team information
• Make sure vehicles are fully stocked with necessary items for each event and ensure team vehicles are kept clean at all times
• Responsible for fan engagement, data collection at each event and proper storage of data
• Responsible for completing post-event wrap-up forms after every event
• Assist with other tasks on an as-needed basis
Game Nights (Must be available for majority if not all Islanders home games)
• Sell both 50/50 and Chuck-A-Puck Fundraising Contests
• Assist with the set-up/breakdown of fundraising contests and promotional items on concourse prior to games
• Assist with concourse set up/clean up on game days
• Interact with fans on concourse
• Assist with other operational tasks on an as-needed basis
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
• Passionate about the New York Islanders and the game of hockey
• Organized with the ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast paced work environment
• Hard working, detail oriented
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to be a team player and enjoy working in a team environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Customer service oriented
Experience/Education Requirements:
• Minimum of 21 years of age
• Possess a valid New York State drivers license and a good driving record
• Box truck driving experience (not necessary)
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
• Flexible schedule- Must be able to work events and most if not all home games
• Requires prolonged standing; ability to lift and carry interactive games/giveaways
• Must be able to work in outdoor conditions

Part-Time Mascot - New York Islanders (Uniondale, NY)

Overview: The New York Islanders are looking for someone to fill the role of our Mascot! Sparky the Dragon represents the New York Islanders at our home games, numerous community events and functions 12 months a year! Our mascot is an ambassador of hockey on Long Island and for our fans every where. We are looking for an applicant that can represent the New York Islanders in a professional and entertaining manner.

Qualifications:
-Outgoing personality
-Strong work ethic, good organization skill
-Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends.
-Good with kids
-Above average skating ability
-Maintaining a good physical condition.
- **Prior Mascot Experience Preferred

Duties include: Greeting fans, birthday parties, community events
