Fall 2014 Islanders TV Video Production Internship - New York Islanders Hockey Club (Uniondale, NY)

 

 Description:
The New York Islanders are seeking individuals with the knowledge of how video production is executed for the sports digital media industry. Partnered with Neulion, Islanders TV is looking for a motivated intern to help develop and create content for the New York Islanders, Islanders TV division. The position requires independent thought, exceptional problem solving skills and the ability to work successfully in a highly intense sports atmosphere on a regular basis.

Required Qualifications:
• Intern must be pursuing or has pursued a degree in Film, Television Production, Communications or a closely related field.
• Part-Time Requires 1-3 office days as well as Gameday/Game nights
• Full-Time Requires 5 in office days as well as Gameday/game nights
• Ability to be highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have the ability to follow direction and function well in a dynamic environment
• Proficient with Final Cut Studio 7 and or Adobe Premiere
• Knowledge of basic lighting techniques
• Experience in shooting with HD professional cameras

Desired but not required qualifications:
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator)
• Knowledge of Apple Motion

Gameday/Game Night Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist in pregame Islanders TV productions
• Film fan footage during Islanders home games
• Film, edit and post Islanders postgame interviews

Islanders TV Responsibilities Include:
• Produce and edit packages in timely manner without assistance
• Assist Islanders TV Producer on all shoots and edits
• Edit daily Islanders TV content
• Log Islanders highlight melts
• Build weekly highlight reels
• Design and create of graphics
• Organize video storage systems

Accounting Internship:
An intern in the accounting department will perform general office duties, which include but are not limited to: assisting with the financials for the New York Islanders, Islanders Children’s Foundation, Islanders Iceworks and Bridgeport Sound Tigers. You will be assisting with the recording and reconciling of daily ticket batches, preparing and recording journal entries, monthly bank reconciliations, various P&L and balance sheet account analysis, assisting in the maintenance of Islanders Kids Club information and fees, counting and organizing game night monies collected and helping to assist with management reports.

INTERNSHIP: Customer Service/Ticket Sales Fall 2014 - New York Islanders (Uniondale, NY)

Customer Service/Ticket Sales Internship:
The Customer Service department handles all ticketing, ticket sales and building issues pertaining to New York Islanders events. Duties include heavy database management, lead generating, event planning, sales calls, sales appointments, and one-on-one interactions with fans and potential clients in-person as well as via phone and email. Interns will be assisting at Islanders games, including working at the customer service booth, assisting with in-game promotions, Fan Experience specialties (hi-fives, zamboni rides), ticket delivery and marketing material distribution. The Customer Service intern will also be responsible for answering the main phone line at reception various times throughout the duration of the internship.

Fan Photographer / Fan Experience and Events
The New York Islanders are seeking energetic and dependable individuals who have a passion for photography and can interact with fans. This position consists of working on game nights for the first half of 2014-2015 season through the end of December. During the games you will be interacting with fans by taking pictures that they are able to purchase online. You are required to arrive 1.5 hours before the start of each game.

In addition to game nights you will be required to be at the following events:

INTERNSHIP: Game Operations Fall 2014 - New York Islanders Hockey Club (Uniondale, NY)

Game Operations Internship:
As a Game Operations intern, you are expected to work every home game, as well as complete office days. Game day duties vary depending on the specific game needs, but will include the set-up and break-down of video and audio equipment, as well as involvement in game entertainment needs, from the concourse to the ice. Office day duties include assisting the Game Operations department with special projects, game entertainment, game night organization and overall department administration. Game Operations interns will be performing detailed research on in-game entertainment, assisting with promotions, event execution and sponsorship fulfillment. Interns are encouraged to develop new ideas that can be used at future home games or events.

Youth Hockey Development Internship
The New York Islanders are seeking an eager and hard-working individual to assist the amateur hockey development staff as an intern.
The Islanders amateur hockey development intern is responsible for a variety of duties on a day-to-day basis, both in the office and around hockey rinks. The right individual must take pride in their work and pay attention to detail. Applicants must have a strong understanding of the sport of hockey and be able to multi-task, while maintaining high standards in their responsibilities.

 

Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain the amateur hockey database
• Execute and maintain day-to-day operations of all amateur hockey programs, including, but not limited to:
Islanders Hockey Academy, Jr. Islanders Hockey Team, Linzer House Tournament, Lighthouse
International Youth Hockey Tournament and Islanders Youth Hockey Jamboree
• Obtain and register participants for all amateur hockey programs
• Photograph all program sessions for use on NewYorkIslanders.com and marketing collateral
• Attend ICE (Islanders Community Events Tour) happenings to promote amateur hockey programs
• Initiate contact with interested parties by placing phone calls and issuing pertinent paperwork
• Build relationships with participating parents and families
• Attend all programs to be the on-site contact, answering questions for participants, parents and staff.
• Manage concourse presence at Islanders home games to promote amateur hockey, answer questions
and secure registrations

Qualifications:
• Trustworthy, polite, positive, respectful self-starter who works well with others
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Detail-oriented with strong organization and project management skills
• Photography skills are also highly regarded
