Islanders University is an experience unlike any other. As a participant in the Islanders University program, interns learn the inner workings of how to run a successful professional sports organization.

An intern should expect to work anywhere from 20-30 hours each week (days and hours can be flexible based on school schedules) and these hours would include working most events/game nights. All intern positions call for general administrative work including, but not limited to: maintaining/organizing files, data entry, copying, filing and faxing. Interns must possess strong organizational and communication (both oral and written) skills. Interns must be proficient in Microsoft Office and internet navigation. Interns also must have the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative, in addition to being able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize. A professional attitude will be expected. Accounting Internship:
An intern in the accounting department will perform general office duties, which include but are not limited to: assisting with the financials for the New York Islanders, Islanders Children’s Foundation, Islanders Iceworks and Bridgeport Sound Tigers. You will be assisting with the recording and reconciling of daily ticket batches, preparing and recording journal entries, monthly bank reconciliations, various P&L and balance sheet account analysis, assisting in the maintenance of Islanders Kids Club information and fees, counting and organizing game night monies collected and helping to assist with management reports.

INTERNSHIP: Community Relations Fall 2016 - New York Islanders Hockey Club (Uniondale, NY)

The Islanders Community Relations department acts as a liaison between the Islanders and the Long Island community. Interns entering into this department will participate in planning and hosting events throughout Long Island as part of our grassroots marketing campaigns. These events could include appearances from players, the Ice Girls and our mascot, Sparky. Interns will also assist with charitable in-kind donation requests, fulfillment of New York Islanders Kids Club and help the CR department on game nights. This will include Islanders Children’s Foundation fundraising. Interns will also help assist at Islanders Children’s Foundation events including the Islanders Golf Outing.

Iceworks Internship:

Islanders Iceworks is the official practice facility of the New York Islanders. It also serves as a thriving figure skating and youth hockey training academy. Interns participating at the Iceworks Facility must be detail-oriented, well-organized and must possess a responsible nature. INTERNSHIP: Youth Hockey Development: Fall 2016 - New York Islanders Hockey CLub (East Meadow, NY)

Youth Hockey Development Internship 
The New York Islanders are seeking an eager and hard-working individual to assist the amateur hockey development staff as an intern.
The Islanders amateur hockey development intern is responsible for assisting with a variety of duties on a day-to-day basis, both in the office and around hockey rinks. The right individual must take pride in their work and pay attention to detail. Interns must have a strong understanding of the sport of hockey and be able to multi-task, while maintaining high standards in their responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:
• Assist with the maintain of the amateur hockey database
• Assist with the day-to-day operations of all amateur hockey programs, including, but not limited to:
Islanders Hockey Academy, Jr. Islanders Hockey Team, Linzer House Tournament, Lighthouse
International Youth Hockey Tournament and Islanders Youth Hockey Jamboree
• Assist with the registration of participants for all amateur hockey programs
•Learn how to photograph all program sessions for use on NewYorkIslanders.com and marketing collateral
• Attend ICE (Islanders Community Events Tour) happenings to promote amateur hockey programs
• Office duties
• Help in building relationships with participating parents and families, and attend programs

Qualifications:

Ice Girl - New York Islanders (East Meadow, NY)

Here's your chance to become a part of the 20016-17 Islanders Ice Girls team. The New York Islanders are looking for energetic, charismatic and outgoing individuals to serve as team ambassadors taking part in Islanders home games as well as community events throughout the course of the year. 

  • Audition Day:
  • Interested candidates should join us for auditions on July 21st. You must be 18 years of age or older and must be a high school graduate (or equivalent) to be eligible to audition. 
  • All candidates must pre-register to attend the audition day and must arrive with a copy of photo ID, two headshots, resume and ice skates. 
  • All candidates should wear fitted athletic clothing to the audition and come photo-ready (hair and make-up done)

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO AUDITION FOR THE ISLANDERS ICE GIRLS TEAM?: Candidates can apply by contacting Ann Rina, Community Relations Director with the New York Islanders, via email at Ann. WHAT TYPE OF AVAILABILITY IS REQUIRED TO BE AN ISLANDERS ICE GIRLS TEAM MEMBER?: Islanders Ice Girls will need to have flexible schedules (particularly on evenings and weekends) that allow for 90% availability for home games. as well as 75% availability for various community appearances. Not all Islanders Ice Girls team members work every game or community appearance. 

WHAT IS CALL TIME FOR GAMES?: The Islanders Ice Girls call time is approximately 2 hours prior to game time. The call time for community appearances will vary throughout the course of the season. All Islanders home games will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. If chosen for the team, all candidates must be able to find appropriate transportation in order to arrive in a timely manner. 

WHAT DOES THE ICE GIRLS TEAM DO?: The Islanders Ice Girls represent the New York Islanders at games, events and throughout the community. In games, you will be primarily responsible for helping with charitable efforts around the concourse including helping to sell 50/50 tickets benefiting the Islanders Childrens Foundation. The team will also represent the Islanders out in the community by attending fan development events as well as community/non-profit events. 

DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SKATE?: Yes, all applicants should be knowledgeable in ice skating and should own their own pair of ice skates. There will be numerous events throughout the season that will require you to be on the ice. 

WHAT MAKES A GOOD ICE GIRLS TEAM MEMBER?: We are looking for candidates with all of the following: outgoing personalities, positive attitudes, strong teamwork skills, high level of physical fitness, professionalism, strong work ethic, reliability and people who are time-oriented.
