Broadcasting and Production Intern - Minnesota Wild (St. Paul, MN)

In line with the Minnesota Wild’s mission to create a greater State of Hockey, the Broadcast and Production team is committed to entertaining all, from the casual fan to the hardcore fan.  The Broadcast and Production team is a tight-knit group that strives for excellence in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a culture of comradery, balance and joy. This role includes working all Wild home games, multiple non-game related events and providing support to many areas of the organization.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal Broadcasting and Production Intern candidate is an enthusiastic, hard-working, reliable, loyal team player with a proclivity for dynamic storytelling, videography and has an editing background with an eye for seeing the unseen.  Creatively with a video camera and a knowledge for the ever-changing technology environment is a must.  He or she will support coverage of the hockey team and organization in a wide range of capacities while delivering superior customer excellence and have the drive to go the extra mile for fans, Season Ticket Holders, internal and external clients.  Passion and understanding of the game of hockey are key, as are dependability, flexibility in schedule and willingness to work in a collaborative business ecosystem.

Review of applications will begin 6/19 and will continue until the position is filled. Our desired start date is August 28. 

Position Summary/Description: The position is responsible for assisting in all aspects associated with the Minnesota Wild Broadcasting & Production Department and the In-Arena production for the Xcel Energy Center and associated campus  events. This is a full-time, seasonal position that will work approximately from August 2017 - July 2018. The hourly rate is $13.40 and the position is eligible for health insurance and 401(k) benefits.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Learn Xcel Energy Center A/V Control Room to complete daily tasks.
  • Log and achieve all Broadcast footage, In-Arena/Community footage.
  • Imput all broadcast information into Database and complete Database organization including archive software.
  • Fulfill footage requests as instructed.
  • Assist Minnesota Wild Broadcasting and Production Department on additional tasks.
  • Assist In –Arena Production for Minnesota Wild and other select Xcel Energy Center complex events.
  • Videotape and/or edit events as needed.
  • Edit events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Video Editing or Broadcasting/Communications with a Mass Media emphasis.


  • Must have experiece in the television & digital production with knowledge of current television and production technology.
  • Possess a strong understanding of all electronic media editing and must have expierence using; Adobe Creative Cloud products, specifically Premiere Pro, Photoshop and After Effects.
  • Any graphic knowledge is helpful (i.e. Cinema 4D)
  • Strong ability to run multiple format cameras with the ability to light subject(s).
  • Knowledge of Hockey and sports in general is a must.
  • Ability to express creativity and creative ideas to others in addition to multitasking and prioritizing as necessary.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing enviroments and technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Attention to detail as well as ability to learn new ideas and concepts plus the ability learn on the fly.
  • Additional computer skills necessary.

Facility Operations/Security: Event Guest Relations
Coordinator, Suite Service and Premium Operations - Minnesota Wild/Xcel Energy Center (St. Paul, MN)

The Suite Service and Premium Operations team is dedicated to providing an exceptional and memorable premium seating experience in the Xcel Energy Center.

Position Summary/Description:

The Coordinator of Suite Service and Premium Operations will assist with the management of existing client relationships and associated administrative objectives within the department. The Coordinator is the main point of contact for the day-to-day operations and assumes a pivotal role in each and every logistical operation relating to the guest's experience and satisfaction.  This position is responsible for sales and service efforts related to suite and premium seating, with a focus on maximizing customer retention and revenue, by developing suiteholder programs and events that enhance the overall client experience.


Office Operations – 60%

  • Oversee single game/event suite rental matrix, contract creation, processing of tickets and parking passes, invoices and receipts
  • Responsible for handling inquiries to the Premium Operations Department phone line and suite service and loge email inbox. Will uphold department expectations and provide professional and courteous responses within 24 hours.
  • Process all ticket, parking and guest pass requests for annual suiteholders and loge members
  • Communicate shared suite schedules for all events
  • Ensure department expectations of single suite rental deliverable timelines are met
  • Manage single game/event suite catering reports ensuring accuracy
  • Assist with maintaining suiteholder website
  • Schedule all contract based benefits
  • Maintain contract signer and suite administrator database
  • Assist with delivery and creating of event announcements
  • Oversee invoicing process of unpaid additional annual suite tickets, ensuring payment is received and processed in a timely manner
  • Attend weekly Suite Sales Team meeting
  • Attend Game Operations and Event Operations meetings as needed
  • Create event day materials for part-time staff
  • Additional tasks as assigned

Suite & Premium Arena Operations – 40%

  • Serve as Suite Level and Premium Operations Manager on Duty and execute all MOD responsibilities at events within Xcel Energy Center as assigned by Senior Manager or Director
  • Assist with ticketing, hassle-free ticketing, printing invoices and mailings to ensure deadlines are met
  • Assist in implementing exclusive suiteholder events
  • Act as Premium Representative in the Box Office when needed
  • Build and develop relationships with premium clients
  • Implementation of the defined service plan
  • Responsible for communication and follow up with Operations and other departments regarding maintenance and other relevant needs
  • Partner with Sales Team to deliver exceptional service for single rentals
  • Create event day signage for Premium areas
  • Coordinate with the department to ensure fulfillment of all last minute special requests
  • Responsible for suite concierge desk management (supplies, iPads, radios, printers, scanners, etc.)



Formal Education & Certification

  • 4 year college degree in hospitality, events management or related field, or equivalent experience

Knowledge & Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in a customer service role, focused on guest needs in arena/event settings.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Archtics is preferred

Position Summary/Description: The purpose of this position is to observe and report any conditions which may negatively affect the safety and/or security of the Xcel Energy Center, 317 On Rice Park and the RiverCentre Complex.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Observe conditions or incidents and report incidents/conditions to the appropriate management staff and/or St. Paul Police/Fire Departments
  • Walk the campus to perform timely and accurate security/safety patrols including stairwells
  • Respond to requests for assistance from MSE staff and visitors for a variety of security issues (fire, medical emergencies, etc.)
  • Attentively monitor and operate security camera systems and digital recording devices
  • Gather and report any information about unusual events that occur on our campus
  • When requested, provide escorts of persons to and from locations within the campus facilities
  • Freight management – monitor and track deliveries, lift, push, and pull freight to move and deliver it when needed
  • Will work different days and shifts depending on need
  • Other event-related duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

  • 6 to 12 months experience in security-related field, preferably experience in uniformed contract security company, military experience or law enforcement.
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • First aid certification preferred

Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong interpersonal/customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and other department personnel and management
  • Previous experience with Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) or Access Controls systems helpful

Work Conditions
